Alex Cross , starring Tyler Perry and Matthew Fox, opened in theaters Oct 19th. Alex Cross is a detective created by James Patterson, who wrote Kiss the Girls as well as Along Came a Spider starring Morgan Freeman. Tyler Perry takes over in the lead role this time around, as he comes head to head with a merciless assassin who takes his job very personally.

Movie Review: Taken 2
Taken 2 starring Liam Neeson opened in theaters Oct. 5, 2012. The movie picks up right where Taken leaves off. Bryan Mills (Neeson) and his wife are taken hostage in a direct sequence of events that follow the ending of the first film. This movie is very action packed and full of surprise, and the fist scenes are very well done.

Cold air, warm spirits for One Billion Rising
The air was cold, but spirits were warm when the Second Chance shelter, in conjunction with the JSU club, WISE (Women’s Issues Support and Empowerment) took to the outdoor Amphitheater to participate in “One Billion Rising” a national event sponsored by the V-Day Foundation. The event was held on February 14th.

Steel band, percussion ensemble join forces
The JSU Percussion Ensemble and Steel Band came together for a magnificent performance this past Nov. 6, 2012 in Mason Hall. The Percussion Ensemble and Steel Band were under the Direction of Thomas McCutchen. There were eleven songs played by the Ensemble and Steel Band. The songs included the Escape Velocity , Away without Leave , The Army 2/4 , Duke’s Lullaby , Crazy Army , I Ching , Pyxis , Under the Mango Tree , Spin Cycle , Down with it , and Trini Yellowtail .

SGA continues to ensure a voice among students
Rock the Vote began on Oct. 5, 2012 in the Theron Montgomery Building. Rock the Vote was held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. by the Student Government Association. There was a table set up on the second floor of the TMB for students to receive information on voting. Members from the SGA were present to inform students on the importance of voting.

Greeks step it up
The NPHC Homecoming Step Show was held on Oct. 24 in the Leone Cole Auditorium at 7pm until 10pm. Many sororities and fraternities attended this event: Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Phi Beta Sigma, Delta Sigma Theta, Sigma Gamma Rho, Alpha Kappa Alpha and Zeta Phi Beta. . This step show was a battle of the sexes; only one could take it all.
